Surrey Heath and Frimley Probus Club were pleased to welcome Steve Bird back to talk to us about the 1879 Battle of Rorke's Drift between a detachment of the British Army and the Zulu Nation. It was very interesting to hear an accurate account as to how and why this conflict took place and to be able to contrast it against the 1964 film - Zulu. It was interesting to hear Steve explain the personalities of British and Zulu leaders at that time and how these characterisations were changed within the film.
Many members departed today determined to watch the film again to look for these discrepancies.
